A heartbreaking scene: a cherished pet dog, its lips overrun by painful thorns, cries out in anguish.

The owner of the dog, Thor, found it impaled with hundreds of quills in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Hundreds of yellow quills covered the golden brown dog’s muzzle, forehead, nose, ears, and legs, according to photos.

When Adriano Bertoline, an unemployed man, was unable to pay a veterinary bill, he started an internet campaign for treatment.

Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a local council member, came to Thor’s aid by transporting him to a clinic and helping with the costs.

It is believed that three-year-old Thor suffered severe injuries in his second encounter with a porcupine in a single year.

After discovering Thor impaled with porcupine quills, Bertoline took to the internet to plead for assistance in healing him.

‘Good morning, everyone..’ he tweeted. My dog was in this state when I got up this morning. Is he able to receive assistance from a clinic or veterinarian? I fear I won’t be able to pay.

Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a council member, saw the dog owner’s plea and decided to help.

Adriano wrote on Facebook, “Since I couldn’t afford a private veterinarian, Dr. Apolari was an angel in my dog’s life.” I have four kids at home, and I’m currently unemployed.

Adriano claims that the council member brought Thor home after taking the dog to the veterinarian and helping to cover the costs.

This is the dog’s second brush with a porcupine in a year, according to Thor’s owner.

Adriano’s friend, who at the time worked at a private veterinary clinic, helped the injured dog in February 2021.
