The cutest dog ever saved from a puppy mill meets his very first friend

Certain stories are more inspirational than others when it comes to animal rescue, and Ruggles the Shih-Tzu and Chompers the kitten’s story is one of those touching ones. It’s a tale of fortitude, camaraderie, and the amazing power of love—even in the face of hardship.

Ruggles, a lovely Shih-Tzu, ended up in a puppy mill—a condition no dog should ever have to go through. Dogs raised in these mills are known for living in appalling conditions and being neglected throughout their whole lives. However, Ruggles’ destiny held something more favorable.

Ruggles was allowed to start over after being saved from the puppy mill. He was moved to a place where he could at last receive the affection and attention that he so richly deserved. He had no idea that this new beginning would result in a touching meeting that would alter the course of both of their lives.

A little kitten named Chompers arrived under equally difficult conditions. Chompers was found buried behind a porch when he was just two days old, having been abandoned and left to fend for himself. This little cat had a dangerous beginning to life, but his story was far from ending.

When Ruggles and Chompers were first introduced, magic happened. Both had experienced challenging beginnings, but because of the kind people who had taken them under their wing, they were both on the road to recovery and happiness.

Their first exchange is captured in a heartwarming video. Ruggles greeted Chompers warmly and opened his heart to accept him into his realm. It was touching to watch as they grew closer and started a friendship.

Even though they had a warm and friendly first meeting, it was agreed that they should be adopted individually. Living True to his moniker, Chompers showed several actions towards little Ruggles that might be construed as violent. Ruggles also needed extra attention due to a few health issues. Their best interests were taken into consideration when the decision was made to adopt them individually.

Ruggles and Chompers are enjoying the best lives possible now because of the kind families that embraced them. In particular, Ruggles has gained a great deal of notoriety. He currently represents the Cherokee County Animal Shelter as their spokesperson, visiting schools to inform kids about shelter animals and the terrible truths of puppy mills.

 

Their tale is proof of the tenacity of animals as well as the transformational potential of love and care. Ruggles and Chompers overcame difficult circumstances to find happiness, and their friendship serves as a lovely example of how compassion is universal.
