A lovely puppy who was given up and allowed to die has gained the ability to run and walk on two legs.
Putol only had her front legs from birth, yet she never allowed that to stop her. The six-year-old dog’s new owner, Danilo Codilego Jr., has taught her to run incredibly fast on her two front paws, as seen in this adorable video.
Putol, whose name means literally “chopped” in the Tagalog language of Luzon, the Philippines, is a common sight when he runs among other dogs and investigates the side streets and gutters of Quezon City’s Casiguran neighborhood.
Could we please just pause for a moment to consider the fact that this poor girl has been called “chopped”? A name that’s cute and terrible all at the same.
The puppy’s boldness and enthusiasm for life make her a popular attraction in the neighborhood, despite her questionable name.
Danilo, a local truck driver, stated: “We got together six years ago. That was when I worked in a bakery. A coworker brought in four puppies one day. He was trying to get 5000 pesos (£115/$151) each from the buyer.
“No one wanted Putol, the poor two-legged puppy; the other puppies were sold.”
Nothing will pierce your heart like that remark.
“They didn’t think she would live very long,” Danilo said. I was the only one strong enough to take care of her. We felt sorry for her, so we took a chance.
“Putol was the only thing that came to mind.”
Not able to think of anything? Willow, Molly, or Coco? Now, mate, I can think of three.
Putol spent the first two years of her life unable to walk, but she eventually mastered the art of balancing on her front legs. She is now a fierce protector of her owner and patrols the land.
Danilo clarified, “Putol behaves like a guard dog, barking when a stranger approaches.” When I focus on another dog, she gets jealous too. She is a nice and well-liked community member other than that.
She doesn’t mind when I have to travel for work because she is well-cared for by everyone. She isn’t picky. She likes the food we eat. But her sickness prevents her from having puppies.
We think she’s too busy having fun to be thinking about puppies!
