Warming Scene A Pit Bull Puppy and the Man Who Saved Him From Certain Death Reconvene
While there are instances when volunteering for animal rescue is challenging, there are also times when it is utterly joyful and impossible without their unwavering efforts.
Canadian marine researcher Joey Wagner volunteers at the Baie Ste Marie Animal Society. He is originally from Nova Scotia. In 2013, Joey received a call regarding a pit bull mix puppy that was severely maltreated and in need of care. Joey discovered the puppy was close to death when he arrived.
For treatment of severe dehydration and demodectic mange, Joey and the rescue team sent the puppy, whom they named Mojo, to Parade Street Vet, PEI Small Animal Hospital. By the time he was three months old, he had completely lost his fur and had bites from mites all over him. His mange was worsened by malnourishment and unfavorable living conditions; the puppy howled with pain while Joey attended to him.
Joey wrote on Facebook, “It was an extremely fast and emotional process when Mojo was surrendered.” “Due to his dire health, we received numerous requests to adopt him, but they were not taken into consideration.”
While Mojo struggled to survive, he won the hearts of Joey and Leta, his wife. Mojo was a good man, even with his past mistreatment, and he had a lot of forgiveness in him. When word got out about his challenges, he became a beacon of hope for many.
“Mojo had an incredible will to live!” Joey takes stock.
When Joey was at last able to find his perfect home, he was first in the queue to complete adoption paperwork. Since Joey had accompanied Mojo throughout their journey, the adoption was duly approved by the shelter. Nevertheless, nobody could have predicted the puppy’s joyous reaction upon reuniting with his savior on the day Joey arrived to retrieve Mojo!
Mojo’s little tail started to wag frantically as soon as he saw Joey. He writhed all over and smothered Joey’s face in kisses, unable to be close enough to his new father. Joey was beaming with gratitude from Mojo for giving him a new lease of life.
The veterinarian saw that Joey was crawling into his arms for more hugs and kisses, adding, “He remembers you.” A happier puppy than we have ever seen!
The world has now seen Joey and Mojo’s happy reunion for more than seven years. Now that Mojo is part of Joey and Leta’s group, he is content and well-cared for. He never got all of his furs back, but he doesn’t seem to care. The Wagners have persisted in using his story to promote animal rescue organizations and generate money for them.
The way Mojo responded demonstrates the depth of animal comprehension. When Mojo was at his lowest, Joey had come to his aid. Their bond cannot be broken.
