On September 22, GWARP got a report of an extremely sick elderly dog who was chained and not given food or water. In all the years that GWARP has worked in animal rescue, they have never seen anything like this.
The dog has lived on a short chain for many years, eating garbage and waste, and it appears to have bone cancer, but it has never received treatment. As a result of malnutrition and vitamin deficiency, the dog developed osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.
The veterinarian said that significant injury and an infection presenting as a tumor are typically the causes of this kind of cancer; regrettably, this is true because the person who reported this witnessed the dog being severely thrashed by her drunken owner. For years, he had it wrapped and hidden in his backyard. Because of the short metal chain, it could only move two feet.
But the owner objected, saying they could not remove “his property,” when the GWARP rescue team asked to save the kid. They therefore asked the local police for aid.
“The dog nearly cried when we left him to speak with the police. The owner changed his mind once we were able to deliver him the proper documents after a few hours. He said we had to “report” the dog before we could keep it.
We concurred because the poor puppy urgently needed blood work and medical examinations. Additionally, our youngster requires an emergency amputation, and histology will receive fabric samples. There is still much to be done.
When Jordan got to Istanbul, he was put to sleep for a short while so that before the operation, X-rays of his entire body could be obtained.
Jordan’s tumor-ridden limb has disappeared after his amputation procedure. Everything went off without a hitch.
Jordan had his amputation operation three days ago. He picked up on things quickly; he was able to regain his appetite and thoroughly enjoy our food.
Kindly keep sending him well wishes for a quick recovery and an extended life. All of us adore you, Jordan.
