How many endearing examples of animal friendships have we seen? most likely quite a bit. Cute inter-species interactions abound on the internet, refuting the myth that only humans are capable of inclusivity and compassion.
Like members of other species, our animals can form close relationships. When they do, it’s very charming. We have likely seen some of these connections occur in our own homes in the shape of friendships between animals.
In every aspect, Barclay the golden retriever and Rudy the duck are the best of friends. It’s good to see the dog and duck spending so much time together, even though their weird love is primarily driven by food. Rudy is one of the seven ducks owned by Orange County resident Pam Ishiguro. She also mentioned that when she first bought the flock of ducks, her dog, Barclay, was not very happy.
Price told People.com, “He seemed like a nice, gentle soul who just happened to have a hard life.” His eyes were filled with desperation, like to that of a big child who had recently lost his dog.
Until he realized that friendship with the ducks meant an endless supply of food, the dog had no interest in them. Barclay enjoys consuming the food that the ducks do, as their owner has observed.
It doesn’t matter how they got together—the dog and the duck are madly in love. Ishiguro observed that the two get along well, even though Rudy is the dominant character in the relationship and has a tendency to dominate over meek Barclay.
Their relationship was love-hate, as Ishiguro put it. When they are together, one of them is always jumping or following the other, but when they are apart, they are always yelling at one another. There seems to be a family involved. Take a look at the video below.
