However, Cala’s problems were far from over. Evil people broke into the refuge in June and planted poisoned sausages, killing sixteen defenseless pets. Cala had somehow lived after inadvertently eating one of the sausages.
Battle stated, “Cala was still alive when we found her.” “Maybe she just took a tiny bite, or maybe her size helped her tolerate the dose.” But Cala had been saved after all. suffered from neurological conditions for a considerable amount of time before making a full recovery. She’s just too strong!
According to Battle, coincidences don’t exist in real life. Cala has endured years of maltreatment, famine, illness, and neglect, but she has survived—a testament to her resilience. Just as she had discovered that life was worth the wait, humans reappeared, ready to inflict suffering. The sanctuary was saddened by the passing of other beloved dogs, but Cala’s incredible survival was a testament to her determination.
Cala, who is presently in foster care, is ecstatic about the amount of affection and attention she receives. Cala’s foster mother is happy to see her letting go of her past and embracing her mischievous tendencies, even after years of abuse, torture, and incarceration.
